The new certifications come from three independent quality certification bodies including U.S.-based Underwriters Laboratories Inc. ("UL"), UK-based Microgeneration Certification Scheme ("MCS"), and Germany's Technischer Uberwachungs-Verein [Technical Inspection Association] ("TUV Rheinland"). To date, Hanhwa SolarOne has maintained a strong portfolio of UL-certified crystalline modules. Long recognized as a guarantee of high performance, safety, environmental friendliness and quality, certification from UL is essential for products sold in the U.S. market. The Company's most recent certifications include its X-tra serial and Black Diamond modules, as well as some from its standard line. The Company has also validated a significant number of modules through TUV Rheinland, recognized across Europe as the highest guarantee of product safety and performance. Similarly, for the UK market, products bearing the MCS mark are likely to be seen as the preferred option in the market place. MCS is also linked to financial incentives which include feed in tariffs.
